Whether in electrical applications or industrial use, a junction box is an important component used to house and protect electrical wiring connections. It is a secure enclosure for maintaining wire connections and will be a junction point for wires to either be joined, routed, or terminated somewhere else. Junction Box Specifications

2. NEMA Rating

NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) rating identifies the type of protection you can expect from an enclosure.

NEMA 1–3R: Basic indoor/outdoor enclosure

NEMA 4 / 4X: Protection against splashing and hose-directed water; 4X includes corrosion resistance

NEMA 6 / 6P: Protection against temporary or prolonged immersion

A higher rating means you will have expected reliability in more extreme conditions.

3. IP Equivalent

The first digit defines the protection from solids (e.g., dust).

IP67: Temporary immersion in water.
IP68: Continuous immersion in water.

Flush/Panel Mount: Aesthetics and compact space deployment by integrating into walls or cabinets.
